Interview #2 part 2
Well the good news is I got called in to do a second interview with Bradley Clarke, so my brush off theory is taken care of. The bad news is it sucked! Talk about bait and switch. This company neither markets nor advertises, they just do straight up door to door sales. Ugh! Not only that, but they just go around selling random crap they have overstock of out of the trunk of their employees' cars. WTF? Far from my idea of opportunity, and definitely not sports based in any way.
The only thing that made the day interesting was one of the employees I met there, former Oklahoma State RB Seymore Shaw. For those of you unfamiliar, Shaw was well on his way to the NFL draft in 2006, but an injury coupled with a court appearance for beating and robbing his girlfriend kept scouts away. Now, for all of his talent, he spends his days going door to door selling backpacks and condiment bottles. It took me a while to get over the tragedy of that fact, as well as the irony. You always wonder what happens to those countless athletes who don't get drafted and never make it to the pros. They just kind of fade away from the public conscious never to be heard from again. Now I know why they don't say what happens to these guys, it's kind of depressing. It's amazing how one bad move can drastically change your life forever.
