Interviews, Interviews, Interviews

So here I am 3 years out of college and I'm still searching for my first career. I've had a few jobs here and there but nothing I'd ever outright tell anyone was "my career."

Career: The general progression of your working or professional life.

For me the keyword here is "progression." When you do the same work everyday with no hope of broadening your horizons, there is certainly a lack of progress, and thus not much of a career. I'm sure something like 90% of Americans live such a life, not by choice but rather necessity. I thought I wouldn't fall into the majority by going to school, but as a new member of the real world I've come to realize otherwise. College nowadays is more a gamble than a guarantee, at least if you hold a non-professional degree. Let's just say so far the gamble hasn't paid off just yet in my case. Not that it's too late or anything. With newfound confidence I began another career search this week and surprisingly scored 3 interviews in 4 days.

Interview #1:

On Tuesday I interviewed with
Synergy Promotions Group. They do marketing and promotions for a number of professional sports teams in Dallas, as well as other organizations that need their services. I wish I could say it went well, and I really would if it wasn't for the fact that I hardly got to say a single thing about myself the entire time. I know they want to tell you the company story and all, but is it a bad sign when they don't ask you anything about yourself before they send you away? I'm thinking it is. They probably just took one look at me and immediately decided I wasn't their guy, fed me some bs and sent me on my way. That's just my take, I could be wrong. It could have been more of a screening than an interview. Anyway, I was told I'd get a call back later that day one way or another, but didn't receive one. On to #2 tomorrow morning. Hopefully I will get a chance to show that I can speak the English language.
